Obituary of Peggy Ann Rivera

September 23, 1949 - December 29, 2024

PeggyAnn Rivera, 75, of Bellerose, NY, died on December 29, 2024 at home. She was married for 52 years to Santos Rivera.

Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ediwno and Alicia Rojas. 

Peggy worked in the birth registrar's office at Long Island Jewish for 35 years. She loved working with mothers during the birth of their children. Peggy was an incredibly caring woman with a big heart for all. She developed a reputation in the neighborhood as a mother who didn't take any crap. She was strong and many of the kids in the neighborhood considered Peggy to be a second Mom to them. Though many of her son's girlfriends were scared of Peggy, the ones that lasted and married her Boys, won the sincere affection of her heart. Mom or "Ma" was very involved in Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church and School when the Boys went there. At an early age in her adult life, she developed Multiple Sclerosis but it didn't get in her way. She would still get up and take care of her family by going to work and taking care of her elderly parents at the time. Peggy is a true superhero in the Boy's eyes and in the eyes of all of her grandchildren and will be dearly missed. 

Peggy is survived by son, Kristoffer E. Rivera and his wife, Melissa of Oceanside, NY; son, Bryan L. Rivera and his wife, Michelle of Franklin Square, NY; son, Matthew R. Rivera and his wife, Jessica of Bellerose, NY; son, Jerry Rivera of LaBelle, Florida. Peggy has fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Peggy joins her eldest son Craig S. Rivera in heaven. May God Bless her soul.
