Joseph Samuel

8/4/1949-10/26/2024

Joseph Samuel (Babu) was born on August 4th, 1949, Melukavu, Kerala, India. He was a faithful and dedicated son to his parents, the late P.A. Samuel and the late Aleyamma Samuel of the Puthenparambil House. He was a loving and loyal brother to his siblings, the late Lilykutty, Abraham, Annamma, George, Thomas and John. After high school, he served in the Indian Navy for ten years. He was in Bombay when he met the late Sosamma Abraham (Kunjukunjamma) and they were married on May 24, 1976. He arrived in New York in July 1978 and in September 1979 he and his wife welcomed their twin sons, Jimmy and Jerry.

Babu worked for the Transit Authority for almost 30 years. He was an active member of the Seaford CSI Church. In his freetime, Babu enjoyed playing cards and carroms, going on roadtrips, and watching the news. He was a devoted family man and was heartbroken when his wife passed away in 2004.

Babu was beloved by all who knew him. He was known for his kindness, generosity and humor. Whether you knew him as “Pops”, or as your brother, your uncle, your friend, or as one of the boys, those who knew him well knew he was one of their favorite people in the world.

Babu was called to rest on October 26, 2024. He is survived by his sons, Jimmy and Jerry, his siblings, his cousins, and his nieces and nephews.
