Obituary of Denise Casimir
Denise Casimir was born in Leoganne, Haiti on September 16, 1935 to Simon Benoit & Martha Registre. She was the oldest of 3 siblings including her 2 sisters Mona & Mirelle Registre. While in Haiti she birthed two sons Yves & Luders.
Everyone affectionately knew Denise as "Matiden". In 1965 she emigrated from Haiti to the US. Upon arriving in New York, she moved to Manhattan & fell in love with Stark Casimir whom she married in March of 1977. The couple remained together for 50 years & birthed 2 more sons Ralph & Patrice.
They continued raising their family in Elmont, NY. She also helped raise 3 generations of young men whom she treated as her own sons.
Matiden began her long US career in hotel hospitality where she became a supervisor. She then worked as a medical technician for NY Presbyterian Hospital. After retiring from NY Presbyterian she continued helping others locally working as a Nurses Aide. Matiden's labor & effort helped finance & sponsor her mother & two eldest sons to immigrate to the US.
Matiden enjoyed music, dancing, sports, the NBA, watching-politics, & most of all cooking. She was a devout Catholic & regularly attended mass with her family. She showed her faith thru her loving actions such as charitable donations to St.
Jude's Children Hospital. She routinely opened her home to friends & family for food & fellowship. Her life was well lived & she embodied the woman described in Proverbs 31 verse 5.
"Her character symbolizes strength, Integrity, & dignity throughout her life."
Matiden is predeceased by her sister Mona & son Luders.
She is survived by sons Yves, Ralph, & Patrice; sister Mirelle: daughter-in-laws Evelyn, Susie & Channel; 8 grandchildren. 5 great-grandchildren, & countless other nieces & nephews.
She'll forever be loved & remembered in our hearts & minds!
