Obituary of Francoise Alexandre
The beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Francoise Alexandre, was born on July 8th, 1933, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Edmond Alexandre and Lamercie St Jean. In 1952, she married Joanus Jean, and together they had two daughters, Carolle Jean Barrais and Nerlande Louis Lafond.
In pursuit of the American dream, Francoise and Joanus emigrated to the United States in 1962, determined to provide their daughters with a brighter future and quality education. Sadly, Francoise's dream was cut short when she was widowed at the young age of 31 in 1964. Despite this hardship, Francoise worked tirelessly in various jobs to support her daughters, raising them to be the exceptional women they are today.
Francoise's most incredible pride and joy were her two grandsons, Reginald Jacques and Christopher Lafond, whom she adored and spoiled. Her love extended to her entire family, and she was always there for her many nieces and cousins, offering them a haven whenever they needed it. Francoise was a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted sister to her younger sister Helene, an extraordinary aunt, and a caring mother-in-law.
After retiring, Francoise traveled the world, ensuring she visited holy sites in the Middle East and Europe. A woman of deep faith, she was an active church member. She served as the president of the Legion of Mary, a member of the "Equipe Pastorale," a Eucharist Minister, and a mentor at the Pastoral College in Brooklyn. Francoise attended church every Sunday until her health declined.
Francoise is survived by her beloved children, family members, friends, and allies. We take this opportunity to offer our sincere condolences to her daughters, Carolle Jean Barrais and Nerlande Jean Lafond, as well as her sons-in-law Eddy Barrais and Dr. Marc-Albert Louis, her grandsons Reginald Jacques and wife Melissa Jacques, Christopher Lafond, and grand-daughter, Kendra Coleman, her sisters Helene Jerome and Felicienne Alexandre.
