Obituary of Richard Jankowski
Richard Raymond Jankowski II, of Carle Place, New York, passed away on the evening of March 9th, 2024, surrounded by his children. Richard, or “Sid” as many knew him, passed away from pancreatic cancer only 17 days after first receiving his diagnosis. After receiving his diagnosis, he remained strong for his family. Though his life was cut short, Richard lived life to the fullest and achieved all his milestones, including his most recent milestone of becoming a grandfather.
Richard worked as a carpenter for the New York City public schools and had recently retired. He was a skilled carpenter and prided himself in his work. Richard always tried to put a smile on other’s faces and was a big jokester. Richard loved music and enjoyed listening to the lyrics of songs to find their true meaning. His favorite band was Aerosmith, to which he brought his eldest daughter to many of their concerts to share. Richard enjoyed going to outdoor concerts, especially at Jones Beach. When he was younger, he loved riding motorcycles with his dear friends. Richard loved to fish with his children, especially going to the drive on beaches on Long Island with his son. He was the type of father who always supported his children in every interest they had and never missed a game his kids played. Richard often bragged about his youngest daughter’s comic con activities and enjoying the expo with her.
Richard leaves behind his three children, Angela, Richard Jr., and Heather, his new grandson, Nico, and his sister, Susan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Margaret, and his sister, Donna. Richard leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family. He devoted his life to being the best father and grandfather he could be. His family and friends will miss him forever.
