Obituary of Oscar John Grasser
Oscar John, "Ozzie" Grasser, 77, of Bellerose, NY passed away on February 9 in Queens, NY.
Funeral service will be held at St. Gregory The Great on Tuesday ,February 13 at 10:45am. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. Visitation will be held at Park Funeral Chapels in New Hyde Park. NY on February 12 at 2-5pm and 7-9pm.
Oscar was born in Flushing to Johann and Sophie Grasser on 9/7/1946. He went to high school at Aviation High School graduated in 1963. He worked in the jewelry industry for many years then went on to own his own deli which was loved by many. After that he was a chef for a US Postal Service facility and the Brooklyn Diocese. He enjoyed road trips, time with family, being a father and grandfather, playing Santa for church and school events, attending NY Mets games and mostly watching TV in his late years. He was very involved in St Gregory The Great Church for many years serving as an usher at church and chair of the Family Life Committee. His other passion was being an active part of the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight and District Deputy until his physical limitations prevented him from being an active member.
He will be remembered for his larger than life personality and unique sense of humor.
Oscar is survived by his Daughter, Christine, siblings Lorraine, Susan (husband Dennis) and John (wife Tammy), grandsons, Thomas and Andrew, son in law, David and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, daughter, Diane, sister, Shirley , parents, Johann and Sophie as well as his in-laws Frank & Marie.
