Obituary of Virendra Mohan Bharel

Dr. Virendra Bharel (“Binny”), age 85 of Long Island, passed away on December 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Dr. Bharel was born and grew up in New Delhi, India, attending All-India Institutes of Medicine with his lifelong friend Dr. Yogendra Upadhyay before coming to the United States. As a physician, he was adored by his patients for his warmth and kindness. As a father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and dear friend, he made indelible impressions on everyone who knew him. His humor, generosity, and loyalty will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his three children, nephew, and their families – Monica (of Boston), Chetan (of Los Angeles), Sonia (of Philadelphia), and Pankaj (of Long Island). He is also survived by a brother (Surender Bharel), sister (Mrs. Bimlesh) and their families in India. He was preceded in death by his wife Jayashree Bharel.

We will miss him dearly, especially his extraordinary selflessness which manifested daily in every single relationship of his life.

Services will be held on December 23, 11:00am – 1:00pm at Park Funeral Chapels, 2175 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park, NY.
