Obituary of Ann B Seletski

Ann B. Seletski (Nee O’Day), 81, of East Meadow, New York, passed away on October 10, 2022. Ann was predeceased by her parents, John and Marguerite, and her husband Harold. She is survived by her brother, Thomas, her four children, Jeanne, Joseph, Jerard, and Jacqueline, and her 5 grandchildren, Melony, Leon, Andrew, Emily, and Kayla, and her step-grandchild, Sean. Ann worked for Chase customer service for 20 years and she also worked for the Unified Court System for over 20 years. Ann held several different titles for the New York and Westchester County Clerk’s Offices, the Attorneys’ Disciplinary Committee, Family Court in New Rochelle, and New York County’s Guardianship Department. She was an active member of the Columbiettes for over 50 years. Ann became a member of the Lexington Council, Greenpoint, Brooklyn in 1962. Shortly after, Ann became a Major Degree member and was eventually installed as President of the Lexington Council for 4 years. Ann moved up the Columbiettes ladder and became President of Long Island Chapter, comprising of all the auxiliaries from both Brooklyn and Queens, New York. At the 1997 Annual Supreme Council Meeting, Ann was elected to the Board of Directors for a 3-year term. Ann was re-elected in 1999 for another three-year term. In 2001, the Nominating Committee selected her for the position of Advocate to which she was elected. She subsequently was elected to the positions of Financial Secretary, Vice President, and Supreme Council Columbiette President. Some of Ann’s accomplishments as Supreme President included instituting auxiliaries throughout California, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Ann also took on the daunting task of relocating the Columbiette office from Douglaston, Queens to Mineola, NY. Ann was determined to experience life which gave her the drive to become an avid traveler. Some of the places Ann traveled to were Russia, Spain, England, Turkey, Greece, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Panama, Costa Rica, Aruba, Mexico, Israel – Holy Land, and several trips to her ancestral home of Ireland. Ann used her spare time wisely by spending it with her grandkids. Another favorite way she used her spare time was at her most favorite getaway place, the Lake.
