Obituary of Hedwig Flori

The Matriarch of the Flori family passed away this past Friday, March 11, 2022. Hedwig Flori (formerly Katzenberger), also known to friends and family as Oma, died in the presence of her son, grandchildren, and long-time friend. She was born in Sandberg, Germany, April 24, 1934. In the 1950s, she traveled to the United States of America and married the love of her life, Angelo Flori, after meeting him at the Plattduetsche. They had two children—Eddie and Daniel. Among other things, Hedwig was a loving and caring mother, Oma and great Oma, and a passionate homemaker, avid card player, cook, baker and cleaner. She always loved spending time with her family and never missed a family gathering. Those who wish to honor our beloved Oma can do so on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Park Funeral Home in New Hyde Park for the Wake and Thursday, March 17, 2022, at St. Rocco’s Church in Glen Gove for the Funeral Service.
