The last time I saw you was when I visited New York to see my brother Errol after his operation and you “bused” me out for not keeping in touch with you...lol..you always made sure that you and Auntie Brooksie visited daddy every time you came to Canada even when he moved up to Milton to live with us. Rest in eternal peace Jim ... you will be missed.

We have such precious memories of our relationship with Jim, much like those expressed by other family memories here in Canada, but every relationship is different, every memory may also be different and every loss we suffer is unique to each of us. I think the memory that sticks out for us, is beginning around 1980, as soon as school closed for the Summer Holidays, we packed the car and headed for New York where we stayed with Brooksie, Jim & Jay for 1 week and attended Auntie’s 4th July Picnics. That was an annual event for several years, which leaves us with very pleasant memories.
Jay, please be assured that our thoughts are with you at this hard time caused by this painful loss of your Dad. Please accept our deepest sympathy. There are no words to express our sorrow for your loss, may you find comfort in the loving memories you shared while he was alive, and please be assured we will always be here for you.

James E Goorahoo, familiarly known and called Jimmy, was indeed a true and genuine friend. Our friendship span 50 years from when we first met in Guyana. With time, our friendship grew to a loving, respectful and close relationship encompassing both our respective families including , Brooksie , Jay and Maureen, Richard, Eric and Andre.
During our years in Guyana, Jimmy had a very fast Hillman Hunter and he would sometimes challenge me with my car, which resulted in us doing a bit of Street Drag Racing, which ultimately Jimmy won. During the weekends, we would get together with a few other friend , lime and hang together.
At that time, I was single, living with my parents and I used to visit Jimmy at this home on David Street, and he would visit me at my parents home. Jim was a disciplinarian, with strong moral values, good conversationalist, outgoing personality and always a pleasure to be in his company.
After the family migrated to Queens , New York in the 70s, we spent many times as their houseguest and were very fortunate to experience their warm hospitality and love.
Whenever Jim and family visit Toronto, Jimmy makes it his point of duty to contact me to alert me, he is here in Toronto. He would come by either the same day or we could look forward to an early morning wake up visit where he would spend quite a few hours chatting with us and the boys, Richard, Eric and Andre, who loved him dearly, always look forward to his visits.
As a result of the relationship we had with Jimmy and Brooksie, a great and wonderful family nucleus relationship, exploded between us and all of his In -Laws and extended families.
Jay, at this time we extend our sincere condolences to you, we are so very proud of the man you have become, the strength you have exhibited then and now since the passing of your dear mother, Brooksie. We are here for you, and although your parents are not around. we are here, and will always be here for you.
Jim, your memories will live on! I have lost a dear friend and a buddy ! Also your passing has left a void in our lives which will never be filled.
May your Soul Rest in Eternal Peace. Farewell my Brother.
Colin, Maureen, Richard, Eric and Andre.

Jim, you have always been a significant part of our lives as a Stepfather, Grandfather and Great Grandfather and we are so sorry we couldn't personally be with you during your difficult days. We are sorry you left us now but we believe you are in a much happier place with your beloved Bunchie. While you were sad to leave Jay alone, your name was called and you had to go however, rest assured Jim, our family will always be there for Jay if he needs us. Your warmth and concern for family will not be forgotten and we will miss you and will think about you often. Rest in Peace Jimbo.

Grandpa, many of my favorite memories from my childhood are filled with both you and Grandma. I remember coming to New York almost every easter and you guys made sure the easter bunny knew where to find us. I remember you taking us to your store and showing us off to all of your employees. You always made us feel loved and welcomed whenever we would come over and we will miss you very much. We know you are at peace now with Grandma as she was the love of your life. You will live on in all of our hearts. We love you and will miss you. It breaks my heart that we can not be there with you Jay but we are thinking about you.
Love your grandchildren,
Amanda, Chris and Kelly

So grateful to Jim for the many road trips he made to bring my sister to Toronto so they can visit with me. I always looked forward to those visits, when we would get together with other family members. Also, the many trips we took to New York on Easter weekends so we can spend Easter together. My memory takes me back to years ago in Guyana when we spent many happy times together with our boys.
Jay, treasure your memories, they will bring you some comfort in difficult days. I am so sorry that I cannot be there with you, always remember, I am only a phone call away.
Jim, rest in eternal Peace.

To my Uncle Jimmy, one of my fondest memories of my childhood is of coming to New York at least once a year to see You and Auntie Brooksie and Jay. You were always there at the door looking out for us and gave us big hugs and kisses. Sunday Mornings always started with loud beautiful music that use to wake me out of my sleep, songs like sing out my soul and the Indian music that you loved dancing to. That was probably my favorite part of the trip. To me that was you. My Uncle. I will miss those days forever. But those memories will stay in my heart for the rest of my life. I am so glad we came to spend thanksgiving with you and Jay six years ago. It was the last time I saw you and the last Sunday I got to hear that beautiful music. Uncle Jim it's time for you to rest now and be with all your loved ones who have gone before you, especially Auntie Brooksie, listening to that beautiful music in heaven, every day, forever. I love you!
