Obituary of Maureen A. Cardoza
Maureen Ann Cardoza, age 84, resident of Mineola, New York, passed away peacefully July 25th, 2020 surrounded by family. She was born June 6th, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York to Mary and Hugh McElherron. She married the love of her life, Edward Joseph Cardoza on May 28th, 1960, who preceded her in death in September 2004.
Maureen’s passion in life was her family and faith. She was dedicated to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was actively involved in supporting her grandchildren in all their sports and activities. She loved to dance, had a passion for reading and shopping, loved fashion, and could often be found playing Cornhole, Jenga or charades with her grandkids. Maureen had a great sense of humor and a quick wit; her funny stories and videos will live on in our hearts, thoughts, and laughs forever.
Maureen worked part time for over 40 years in the library of Plaza College in Queens, New York. Maureen was also a regular parishioner at St Aidan’s Roman Catholic Church in Mineola, New York.
Maureen is survived by her sisters Alice Ravert, Francis Roberts, Joan Tadler and Geraldine Dzwlewicz; her brother Richard McElherron; her son Edward Cardoza, and three daughters Mary Beth O’Hare, Tara Cardoza and Kasey Slaski; eight grandchildren, Brittany Swindells, Alison O’Hare, Christopher Cardoza, Kevin O’Hare, Madeline Slaski, Caitlin O’Hare, Bridget Slaski and Thomas Slaski; and her many nephews and nieces. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
