Most of us in the English Department at Nassau Community College have never met Marion Oldenburg, or as we fondly refer to her, "Grandma." Yet Lori's stories and warmly shared love brought us all into Marion's embrace of life and family. She lived a life of courage and love; she has taught us a lot about what is important. And we will miss her.

Grandma & Grandpa Oldenburg showed me New York when I was a kid. I'll never forget coming from Florida to New York and how weird it was to stay in a house that had no air conditioner. Grandma took me with her to run errands and it was the first time I had to walk everywhere we went. Grandma and Grandpa took me to the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and the Twin Towers. When I got back home to Florida I told my mom I wanted to live in New York when I grow up. Such happy memories.
