Obituary of Joyce B. McCarthy

Joyce B. McCarthy passed away peacefully on August 13, 2019.  Joyce was the beloved wife of Robert E. McCarthy for over 64 years.  She was the loving mother of Joyceann and Bob and deeply loved their spouses Mike and Mary Jean.  Joyce was the devoted grandmother to her six grandchildren, Ellen, Bridget, Michael, Katherine, Barbara and Robert.  Family and faith were the foundations of her life and nothing gave her more pleasure than time spent with her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her extended family.  She loved special times at Malibu Beach, Marco Island, at her grandchildren’s many events and with family and friends in East Rockaway and Garden City.  She will be remembered for her ready smile, her joyful disposition and the care and devotion she offered to her family.  She graduated from Fordham University where she met her husband, Bob.  Joyce taught in the New York City public schools before giving that up to raise her children.  She was actively engaged in the community as a substitute teacher, member of the Sodality of our Lady, volunteer with United Cerebral Palsy, and active participant in the Parent Teacher Association.  Joyce  was an active parishioner of St. Raymond and St. Joseph.
