Obituary of Marjorie Ann Gullo
GULLO – Marjorie Ann (78), of Flushing and Carle Place, NY, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of March 23, 2019. Beloved Mother of Michael (Magda) and Jo-Ann (Amanda). Cherished Grandmother of Anthony and Michael. Caring wife of over thirty-five years to Liborio “Bud”, and darling fiancé to Marty, who was with her the last five years of her life. Endeared “Aunt Marge” to her many nephews and nieces. Loving daughter of the late William and Serafina “Fanny” Rizzo, and sibling to her three predeceased brothers; Louis, Frank, and William. She was loved by many and held dear all the friendships she forged over her lifetime. A beautiful woman, with an even more beautiful heart, she devoted herself to her family, especially her children, through her actions, love, and unconditional support. Her fighting spirit, zest for life, love, and laughter, and positive, “play best the hand you are dealt” attitude exemplified valued traits few possess. Ever the competitor who hated to lose, she enthusiastically cheered for her children when they competed or performed, rarely missing an event. Marjorie’s likes and interests varied, and included; beautifying her home, being a Tom Jones “super fan”, watching soap operas, figure skating, and Dancing With The Stars, as well as, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, playing cards, midnight zeppole and t-bone steak noshes, taking tap dance lessons at age 50, and collecting Lladro, Armani, and Precious Moment statuettes. However, her greatest passion was rooting for her NY Mets the day they entered the National League. Regardless of the season, their winning percentage, or the opponent, she rabidly cheered for the NY Mets until the day she passed, hoping for more time, as “the 2019 team is going to be good.” Family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, March 29th at Park Funeral Chapels, 2175 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park (New Hyde Park), NY from 2 – 5 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 30th at St. Kevin RC Church, 45-21 194th Street, Flushing, NY. Interment to follow at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 172-00 Booth Memorial Avenue, Flushing, NY.
