Obituary of John C. Kelsh
KELSH - John Conley passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12th. John was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved Sherlock Holmes, newspapers, choral singing, corn of all kinds, a good one-liner, the University of Wisconsin and most of all his family. He will be forever missed. John was born in Oshkosh, WI. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he began a lifelong passion for Wisconsin Badgers athletics. Post-college, he attended Harvard Law School. While at Harvard John met Kathleen McDermott of Needham, MA. They married in 1961. They lived in Stuyvesant Town until 1980 when they moved to Garden City, NY. They also maintained a home in Wainscott, NY. John had a thirty-nine year career as an investment lawyer at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. His career produced many friendships. John is survived by his wife Kathleen, four children, John Kelsh (Kris) of Evanston, IL, Eileen Ambach (Ken) of Garden City, NY, Maggie Rogers (Gene) of Garden City, NY and Dan Kelsh (Erin) of Larchmont, NY and eleven grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his parents and siblings. Viewing will be held at Park Funeral Chapels in Garden City Park, NY from 2:00-4:00 and from 6:00-9:00 on Tuesday, January 16. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne's Church in Garden City at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 17.
