Our deepest condolences to the Basu family. Dadu was someone who has deeply touched our hearts and even though we are not blood, we always saw him as our grandfather. He has lived a fulfilled life and we feel so blessed to share and be part of his memories. Our favorite memories of Dadu was having relaying races in our swimming pool and playing card games like "Kings." In our hearts, Dadu will remain with us watching and guiding us throughout our lives.
- All of our love,
Joey, Savanna, and Silas

During the holidays in Dhanbad, all of us (my brother, sister and my parents) eagerly looked forward to the arrival of Meshomoshai, Mashi and my grandparents. They came usually during the school winter breaks. Mesho was born to entertain kids. He played cricket with us using a homemade bat, tennis balls and stacks of brick for wicket. When we visited Kolkata, Mesho and Mashi would take us (my cousins included) to the Alipore Zoo, and teased us with ice cream rewards for winning unfair races, unfairness coming from the differences in age among the participating kids. The losers got ice cream too, but they had to start complaining to the point of crying. Mesho was full of fun and pranks.
Mesho liked to help people, and especially people who were close to him. When Nupur and I got married, Mesho made all the arrangements for our honeymoon in Darjeeling, including the residences, sightseeing trips, and private visits to tea gardens, in company of their owners.
There are countless other ways Mesho has touched our lives. I am grateful for his kindness, and will cherish the days we had him in our company.
