A couple of years ago Atty Mandy initiated a conversation via Facebook when he saw my name online as one of the members of Banco Filipino Then and Now Group page. Although we both used to work at the same institution we never had the chance to work together so I thought that would be enough to share a common interest. That was the first chance to get to know Atty Mandy better. I said to myself how cool this person is at that time to have spent the time to chat with me via FB. On Christmas of 2011, he managed to send me an electronic card to greet me and I thought that was very thoughtful of him to have remembered me. My last communication with Atty Mandy was when he sent me an email apologizing for not attending our Oct 2012 Las Vegas BF Global Reunion. He said that he may not be there physically but his thoughts and prayers are with us for a successful reunion. I told him no apology is needed as we truly understand his medical condition. Recently, Christmas of 2012, I remembered sending him an email message to greet him for the holidays and to find out about the progress of his treatment. Unfortunately I did not get any response. I started to worry only to find out that his condition had worsened and a couple of days ago, I was so saddened to get confirmation of his passing. No wonder why he did not respond to my email message. His family may have lost a great father and a husband but as a member of the BF family, I have lost a dear and thoughtful friend whom I have the utmost respect. We will miss you dearly Atty Mandy and may your rest in peace.

Rest in peace, Mandy! Be assured of our prayers.
To the family he left behind, may you be consoled that at last he has found comfort in eternal life with God.

My family and I are so grateful to have known Mandy. We will always treasure the help he gave us when we were just beginning to get settled here in the US over 20 years ago. When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, he and Valerie were among the first few to visit me in person at home and offered me advice and support. I was also fortunate to have visited him in his lovely home when he himself was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2011. When he was still active on Facebook even when he was already very sick, he would always initiate chatting with me or my husband to exchange pleasantries whenever he saw we were both on. We rarely saw each other during the last twenty years but it felt like our ties continued to get stronger through the years. We will always remember Mandy for his kindness, generosity and helpfulness. He was a true friend and an admirable man.
Mavel and children, we know it is a very difficult time for you right now, having lost a great father and husband. But we're sure he is peacefully looking down on you from heaven with the rest of the angels. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.
Love,
Fe, Ber, Chona, Camille
